From Illness to Resilience: Mediating Factors of Quality of Life in Patients with Congenital Heart Disease

Background: Congenital heart disease (CHD) is a leading cause of childhood morbidity, with an estimated prevalence 0.8–1%. However, advances in diagnosis and treatment now allow 90% CHD patients to survive adulthood, increased interest their quality life (QoL). In this study, we examine the impact clinical psychosocial variables, including number surgical interventions (NSI), age at surgery, school achievement, social support, as mediating factors QoL patients. Methods: The study included 233 (132 males) average 15.2 ± 2.07 years, 80 cyanotic 153 acyanotic CHD. severity illness ranged from mild severe, 30 having severe illness, 119 moderate 84 illness.
